I have bought a second hand laptop that has Vista Home Premium already loaded
to it but the previous user hasn't supplied me with the OS disk so that i can
re-install in future if needed. How would i go about aquiring one for my
laptop or creating myself one??

Do you have a partition on the HD labelled as "Recovery'?
Most laptops by manufacturer have only OEM version installed and "Recovery"
is basically you copy of Vista.
What is the make, m,odel of the laptop?

If advise given from anyone, solves problem or not, or if solved from
another source, post back & let us know.

If your Vista is OEM, then you will have to contact who ever made your
laptop. If it is retail, then contact MSFT for a replacement DVD.

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5633 WLMi. I haven't taken delivery of the
laptop yet so i can't check the HD.

Check before you fully accept whether Vista was preinstalled or upgrade.
If preinstalled you should have the partition as I mentioned.
If it was an upgrade the seller should provide you with the install disk,
because that copy is tied to that laptop.

Also if Vista was an upgrade from XP SP2. The key on the laptop would be for
XP SP2 not Vista. You need to find this out because if you have to
reinstall, you may find out the key on the laptop doesn't work.

Hi Tom

Acer Notebooks usually have a suite called Empowering Framework installed.
Run eRecovery to create OS recovery CDs or DVDs. Take a look at your
computer manufacturers web page for support.
