I just tried it here and it works fine. What about a tweak
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm line 2 left side. XP only
remembers 400 folder option, this will increase it. Give it a try.

Paul, I guess I wasn't very clear in what I posted for Stephen. Will try
again...

If right clicking the taskbar and unchecking Toolbars isn't working. Try
unchecking the box for Quick Launch in Taskbar Properties to see if it
can rectify the matter.

I'm XP Home SP1 and it appears I've lost the ability to my changes to the
taskbar. Actually I'm trying to take off or not show the quick lunch
taskbar, I do this by right clicking the taskbar and unchecking the quick
lunch taskbar and it removes it self from the taskbar but reappears when
reboot. I have also went to the control panel and clicked on the taskbar
settings icon and removed the quick lunch taskbar this way too but it still
reappears. I'm stumped on this one any clues would be helpful. I have
computer administrator privileges too.

No, I leave the programs on the toolbar. From some strange reason windows is
not remembering this setting, it does for every other change I make. I
wonder if it is something in the registry. I use system mechanic and thus
far to no ill effects. I just find this strange.

Right click the taskbar and select Properties. There's a box on the Taskbar
page to "Show Quick Launch." Remove the check if present.

One would think deselecting QL from the taskbar's right click menu would
automiatically uncheck this box for you but apparently it doesn't. Didn't
happen when I tried it anyhow.

I tried the tweak from your website to no avail kelly, that tweak was from
your website, I'll try the latest one next. hopefully it will work. I
remember the first release of XP not remembering prefs but I thought they
fixed this with XPSP1.

That's the one I tried but it didn't work. I'm trying to remember if I did
anything to this preference before I noticed this problem. I'm also using
GoBack and I have used it. I wonder if this could be the problem.

I have the latest update for GoBack (the one that makes it XP
compatible...to bad roxio sold it to Symantec) and so far it seems to work
OK for me...better then system restore. anyway I figured the problem out. It
was my antivirus software, AVG 7, I disabled it then made the switch and
everything work like it was supposed to. I figured this out because I was
having a problem with my sound card, a Santa Cruz, and I uninstalled the
drivers and disabled the antivirus and it works like a charm now (like an
idiot, I installed them without disabling my antivirus, it wasn't in the
manual and I found it out online). thanks for the help everybody
