lost TCP/IP after ATI TV Wonder install

I installed an ATI TV Wonder Pro (PCI) card into my Dell Dimension 4600, w/
XP. When I did that, I lost access to the Internet.

What is weird (to me) is that I can still access my home LAN -- that is,
the other computer on my network, using my standard IPX. So, the NIC seems
to be working fine. In order to get TCP/IP working again, I have to use
XP's restore for the day before. I have updated all drivers for existing
hardware and am using the latest drivers for the ATI card.

All that ATI could offer (at level 2 tech support) was to try the card in a
different slot -- which did not help. Device manager shows all hardware
working fine. And, when I look at the resources for the card and my
ethernet device (it is on the motherboard), they do not show any conflict.

Any ideas as to what the problem is would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your ATI card may have a 1394 (Firewire) connection. If you go into Network Connections it should show up there. In network connections is there a network bridge? If so, delete it.

Thanks. But I do not have a network bridge. And, when I was switching
cards around, I had taken the firewire card out to us its slot for the TV
Wonder card. I also tried putting the firewire card back in and installing
network bridge and then uninstalling it, to be sure, but that did not help.

Other suggestions appreciated, if you have any more ideas. Again, thanks.

ATI now tells me that they think the card is bad. We'll see.

Dude, I am having the exact same problem... WHATS THE SOULTION?!?!?!
Very little info out there on this. Please help me out.

I can restore and everything is fine. Reinstall and I see a new LAN
adapter install and i suspect that's the conflict but i dont know how
that would be resolved (dealing with two LAN adapters). You can't
remove the second adapter because it is a system resource.

any help is appreciated.

Thanks!:what
