Hi

I am mystified and frustrated by the following problem, any help
appreciated.

we have one user who has, on a number of occasions recently, experienced
a problem where she is modifying a spreadsheet, she has then left the PC
with the sheet open and when she returns 30 minutes later, the sheet has
been closed and the changes lost. Excel is still open. there has been a
situation where two sheets were originally open but only one closed
during the problem period.

This is Office 2000 running under Win2K, data is on a Windows SBS2003
server. no problems with network or shares,

any ideas anyone?

Thanks
Colin

Quite likely, someone in ur office around did that with a bad intention but
unsaved work never gets shut off itself.

Or for other case, check with the cmputer's POWER OPTIONS and scrren saver
settings!

First, if this workbook has to have data entered by others, it might be a
frustrated coworker just trying to get his/her work done.

But there are questions in the newsgroups that ask how to close a workbook after
x minutes of inactivity. Any chance you have a macro sitting in wait with this
workbook.

You may want to tell the user to get in, do the work, and get out--or you could
tell her to lock her pc when she steps away (alt-ctrl-delete <just once!> will
let you lock the pc.

Alt-ctrl-delete will give another prompt for the userid when she returns.

Before she steps away from her desk, she should click the Save button.

She should also save frequently while editing the workbook, so that
she'll never lose hours worth of work if the workbook closes unexpectedly.
