Had you checked out the compatibility of your system prior to installing XP,
you would not be having the problems being experienced.. It has been well
known that XP is different from previous OS's.. MS even made it look
different so that users would realise that they have a very different
'animal'..

The 'constant' updates appear to be peculiar to those people who only want
to whine about XP to cover up a complete lack of knowledge re. how to
maintain their computers.. without updates, we would be 'run out' of the
computing world by script kiddies and hackers whose only purpose in life is
to bring down and generally discredit Microsoft..

The majority of computer users have a relatively easy time because they take
the time to understand the implications involved in having a computer, and
do their best, quite successfully, to take the steps necessary to make life
easy.. the updates are a small price to pay such that a person can be part
of the computer revolution..

If a computer user has a problem, they can come into these newsgroups, state
the problem clearly, and more often that not get a response that solves
their problem.. those that just come in whining do not get the same kind of
deal..

I did a search on Chessmaster ver6 and couldn't find anything on it..
Chessmaster is found as 5000, 6000. 8000. 9000 etc.. this page may be of use
to you..

I upgraded from Win Me to Win Xp , and now unable to use my
Chessmaster ver 6 program. It worked great with Win Me. But Win EP
HOME EDITION says it is not compatible.

Plus I have some other programs that are now not compatable with XP.

I am getting to the point that I may just stop useing the Internet at
all,
It seems every time I do an upgrade I end up unable to use my
software programs.

and like everyone else I am constantly having to download patches ,
