Lost search animation characters

O/S XP Home Edition. I seem to have only one animation on my search companion
tool. I am sure there used to be more. When I attemt to change character, I
am given the choice to go forward or back but on clicking on my choice
nothing happens. My present character is Merlin. How can I retrieve other
characters. I do not have the full programme CD but a restore Cd that came
with the computer. I have tried sfc /scannow and nothing happens, so I
assume there is no fault there.

Do you have the install CD for Office? If yes, run setup and elect to add
components. Select the help assistant characters that you want. Once
installed, these characters are offered as options in Search.
 
No, I don't have Office CD but if I did it would obviously be the answer.

Maybe not obvious but XP only comes with the dog (and apparently Merlin
since you were able to select him). Personally, I like the cat so always
install him when I add Office to a setup.
