Lost Product Key

I recently purchased Windows XP Home OEM and my wife
accidently threw the product key away before I was able to
set up the program. Any suggestions on how to get my
product key from Microsoft?? All customer service options
seem to request product key before they'd help. I haven't
tried calling them as of yet, but that will be my next
option.
I still have my receipt and called the distributer and
they don't keep record of product keys. Is there any way
for me to resolve this outside of buying the product again?

Microsoft does not support nor replace OEM keys.
If the seller cannot help you, I'm sorry to say that
you are out of luck with this problem.

I understand that when I bought the OEM product, that I
was buying it without the Microsoft support all I wanted
was the product.
Are you 100% sure that Microsoft will not supply me with a
key even if I pay for their CS support? That would be
less expensive than buying another OEM product.
Is the product key associated with my specifice disk? If
it is, then Microsoft has to know what the key is, right?

Call (425) 635-3311 (U.S.) and ask Microsoft directly.

Look at OEM as if it is manufactured, sold and supported by the seller
because that is in effect what the sellers contract is.
Your contract is with the seller and Microsoft has no part in it.

Your only solution is probably to buy another copy.

Another of the many reasons you paid less for your OEM than I did for
retail.

Greetings --

Microsoft provides no free support for OEM versions. If you have
any problems that require outside assistance, your only recourse is to
contact the manufacturer/builder of the PC or the vendor of the OEM
license. This would include such issues as lost a Product Key or
replacing damaged installation media.
