Lost original XP disc, will microsoft have a record of purchase?

Hello All,

I bought Windows XP about 3 years ago and have since lost the original disc.
At purchase I registered it with Microsoft. Will they have a record on file
so that I can use that verification to upgrade?

If so where might I go to find such a registered record.
