Lost my XP Home key...

I bought a copy of Windows XP Home from Essential Computer
Inc on 10/30/2001, planning to install it on the computer
my kids use. They decided they didn't want to move from
Win98SE until later.

Well, later came this June, 2003. I went to install XP
from the CD but realized I didn't have the CD Key.

Damn.

How can I get a key for my brand new CD.

Try calling Microsoft's support service or go to the
online version.

Do you have the box or anything else?

I think there is a serial#(which identifies the disc on
the box) as well as the CD key.

If the SN shows it wasn't used you might be ok. They
might issue you a CD Key. But be prepared to pay for it
perhaps.

It would be on a yellow label on a card inside the box, marked in quite
big letters 'Do Not Lose this number'

If you have lost it there is no record anywhere that will restore it
