Have you tried using OE's File | Import | Messages to import from the store
directory the DBX files are in?

Best to ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup. But in the mean time...

Messages in Inbox or other mail folders disappear

The Other E-Mail Threat File Corruption in Outlook Express

4. Recovering lost messages.

Outlook Express e-mail messages are missing from the Inbox folder

Then follow some of this advice.

The following is quoted from....

[[General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if
Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only).

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. ]]

yes the names are their, but the files sizes are small. My sent Items
went from 377 files to zero(example). I restored Local folder. They went
to empty again.
I Ghosted back to the original system running Office 2000 and got all my
files back.
The CD I used was one from Microsoft and the key did not match. Had to call
the 800 number. Got this through my company for $20, (Microsoft Home use
program)

DBXpress in Disk Mode will recover any messages on the hard drive that have
not been overwritten. www.oehelp.com
That's in Disk Mode, not Recover.
