Trying out some software, the Webroot antivirus/spyware SpySweeper package,
I found the product unacceptable for my needs. So I removed it/uninstalled
it. It requires a reboot when you do so.

Upon the reboot I no longer had my dual-boot: XP Pro on my C drive, Vista
ultimate on my F drive, although all of my data on both drives was still
there.

What is the easiest way of recovering my dual boots?

Thanks!

Download and install EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1

Run it and from the "add/remove entries" section add the missing entry
(be it XP or Vista).

Simply boot from your Vista DVD and select repair startup.

Worked like a champ! Thanks! Now, I have "Earlier Version of Windows"
(XP), and *2* Vistas (marked 'recovered'). I only need one , I figger. How
do I get rid of the un-needed one

Simultaneously with my dual boot going away, the other members of my LAN
seem to have disappeared from Network, although their content is available
by name..........whatinhell did
SpySweeper do, I wonder?

Suggest you dl EasyBCD from:

www.neosmart.net

It'll be under software.

From there delete the boot entry you don't want or need.

VistaBootPro is another option to remove the invalid entry.

Hay, Rock!

The suffix "-pro" implies it costs something. My fingers are opposed to
that......

Glad it worked!

Me, too! Now to try to get my network browsing to work: the userID/loginID
and password on both the remote machine and my local machine are the same.
I can access all the files by UNC name. However, the machine name as well
as their attached printers (and my ability to browse on the machines)
disappeared simultaneously with my uninstall of the Webroot product (which
also killed my dual-boot menu!)

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Check to make sure the "workgroup" name is the same on all boxes. Also I
suggest you not use the default name but make up one of your own for
better security.

The "workgroup" name is the same on all boxes, too: recall that everything
was working well until I tried to uninstall the Webroot
anti-spyware/antivirus software package. I still have access to the
programs and data on the other machines on the LAN, they just do not show up
when I open "Network".

Try running network diagnosis/repair.

EasyBCD is free too, and much more reliable with a bunch more
features :D

I wasn't commenting on feature set or reliability. I was replying to his
comment that Pro implied in this case that it wasn't free.

Ah, 'kk

Sorry about that ;-)

No problem. I am looking at EasyBCD now to see the diffs, but I never ran
into any bugs or problems with VistaBootPro so it's hard to do a comparison
at this point.
