It seems I made a bad mistake

I was running a dual boot system and all of a sudden my pc started shutting down and restarting by itself, I at first was able to boot to the last know good config. but no more

I blamed it on mandrake it had rename my second drive to mirror my first drive where Windows XP lived

I deleted Mandrake reclaimed that part of the patition as a fat 32 file system formated the entire 120 gigs

And reloaded Windows XP only, it would seem the virus was already in my network (after finding out it could live on my ME machine) another pc in my network

Today 5/9/04 without notice my pc shut down

It scans my keyboard, mouse and drives not the floppy although the bios is set to boot from floppy or hard drive

the drive activity light indicates it's scanning the hd but will not load I can not enter the bios at all

I guess my question is if one would know is if the virus affects my bios on the mb can I still save the other hardware attached to it

IE

the processo
ATI all in wonder
Creative audigy gamers
ET

or will the virus affect these items als

Me and Windows 98 are the other operating systems it my network will both of these have to dewormed so to speak

Ok now I'm stumped

After about 3 hrs just for the fun of it I restarted my pc and it did boot back into the bio's and I and after confirming the settings I saved and exit
Booted to windows XP followed the instructions to stop the shut down process and enter

went to set three mitigate the vulunerability

run echo dcpromo>%systemroot%\debug\dcpromo.log and my pc shut down and rebooted to the point where it shows the ASUS award bios and hung up and now I'm back to no start, no bios nothing

any ideals

WHY do you think it's a virus?

Computers just shutting down with no warning is usually a HARDWARE failure.
