How do I get Outlook running normally and recover my lost files?
Two days ago when I opened Outlook (Office XP Prof 2002[10.6515.6714]SP3) I
got the message "Personal Folders: xxxxxxxxxx.pst Could not be Found". When
I followed the prompts, I created a new .pst file, but all of my old files
(inbox, deleted, sent, contacts, etc.) were gone.
Since then each time I've closed Outlook and then opened it again I've gone
through the same process of creating a new .pst file, with no old files
surviving.
When I Search (using the Search hidden files and folders) I can not find any
..pst files except the ones I've just created.
I do find large, old (creation date) .dbx files with last date modified
being the date before this problem arose. I have not been able to Import
these files into Outlook, using Outlooks import facility.
I'm running XP home ED SP2.

List the steps that produced your problem. I have never seen a scenario
where a PST file simply vanishes short of reformatting your hard drive.
There is more to this story.
Have you tried creating a new profile? Yours appears to be corrupt.

I was deleting old files and programs.
When you mention creating a new profile, do you mean just going in to MAIL
and deleting my old profile and then re-creating it?

So you deleted your PST file?
Well no wonder. Why didn't you say so?
I knew there was more to this story.

Not intentionally.
I did go back and Restored everything in my Trash Bin, but it did not help.
