Hope you can help, or send me in the right direction for
help. A couple of days ago I lost several files that were
in "My Documents" folder. The folder remains but the sub-
folders are gone. The files were Excel, Word and picture
files. I also lost all of my internet bookmarks and e-
mail address list. I scanned for viruses with Norton Anti-
Virus, (which is up-to-date), and no viruses were found.
The "search" function will not find any of the lost
files. If I open Excel from the its program and drop down
the "file" tab, the files that are missing are listed
there but when I try to open them there is a message that
says to check for spelling or the files may have been
moved or deleted. I know I didn't delete them, nor did I
knowingly move them. One last strange thing is when I re-
entered one of the lost internet addresses it will not
connect. There is a message that says "unable to access",
reason unknown. I am running Windows XP Home Edition and I
tried to restore to a date prior to the loss and I get a
message that says "can't restore to that date, unknown
error".
Anyone have any ideas as to what went wrong?
