To make a long story short and to the point....
Went to "CONTROL PANEL" then to "FOLDER OPTIONS" then to the "FILE TYPES" tab where I saw twenty-nine (29) different file types that were associated with an icon type, but had no longer listed any of their three (3) letter extension. Instead of their listed extension listed in parentheses like so.(.TXT) it was listed like this. (NONE).
Now, to my recollection last time I looked, I think I remember seeing those entire file types associated with a listed extension and the appropriately associated icon. How am I going to repair all those associations? Is there some utility or application (like Windows XP Power Toy that repairs icons,) that will simplify this process?
If you would like to see what I am talking about, I have taken a screen shot of the problem along with some info provided by Belarc Adviser on my site at http://groups.msn.com/StevesNewsgroupPictures/shoebox.msnw (See "Problem Child" and "Problem Child 1" for close up)
I hope someone is familiar with this problem and can help.....I have never come accross this before.... and I'm stumpted!
