Hi,
I've my Favicon before and I would like it appears in my IE6 browser again --- what should I do?

TIA,
Rino

They were deleted when you emptied your Temporary Internet Files folder.

Read about it here...
[[Favicons are usually lost when you delete your Temporary Internet Files,
but FavOrg preserves them.]]
FavOrg

Download it here...

FavOrg - Restore and Save Favorite Icons
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Direct download of favorg.zip
http://www.gratilog.net/anglais/internet/favorg.zip

These Icons are stored in >>
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
or
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files

The contents of these files get deleted. Icons revert back to the generic
ugly IE e.

IE | Tools | Internet Options | General tab | Settings button | View Files
button | Scroll down to whatever *.ico files you want to keep | Left click
favicon.ico | Drag to Desktop | Rename to whatever | Store in a folder such
as >> C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\My Documents\ICONS

Open Favorites | Right click whatever item | Properties | Change Icon |
button | Browse button | Click: My Documents or wherever *.ico are stored |
Click whatever *.ico | Open button | OK | Apply | OK
Repeat as necessary.

If you move any *.ico files after customizing your shortcut/favorite, the
icon will revert back to the blue e

Thanks Wes -- but it didn't work ;o(
The FaveToGo is good, might use it later to transport my Favorites folder ;o)
The FavOrg is also good ;o) BUT I preferred the version of IE6 because all Favicons
are already in placed and I don't want to start all over again and replace all my Favicon.

Your instruction is much better and quicker: IE > Tools > Internet Options > General
tab (always a default tab) > Setting button > View Files button (I stop here) because I
could NOT find the required Favicon.ico

Yes, I already knew how to change and saved new Favicon.ico and I did all 2 PC I
owned. My real problem even if I deleted all saved Favicon.ico in all Users Favorite
folders and re-type the website and the valid Favicon never appear in Browser
Address line. The "blue e" Favicon always dominated it!

My friends also reported that Favicon seen in Firefox browser BUT NOT in IE6.
I'm using IE6 and want that Favicon 100% and if I could NOT then maybe the
culprit is IE6. Hope they can tackle this problem in IE7.

Other BIG commercial Favicons are easily seen in my IE6 --- especially this one: http://home.ingdirect.com/
If you move any *.ico files after customizing your shortcut/favorite, the icon will
revert back to the 'blue e Favicon'
How can we produce back the unique Favicon when this happened?

Thanks,
Rino

Thanks Rick - but it didn't works ;o(
I followed your instruction to the letter and after I type-in the website URL ---
I always see the "blue e Favicon" --- so I've to stop there. Why IE6 cannot
reproduce that Favicon? I've seen that unique Favicon in the beginning ---
yes, in my Address line.

________________Temporary Internet Files___________________________
Name: Internet Address: Type:
Orange dot favicon.ico http://home.ingdirect.com/favicon.ico Icon
FrontPage Icon My URL HTML Document

When click open Orange dot --- only tiny Favicon Orange dot in browser body area.
When click open FrontPage Icon --- whole web page open with blue e Favicon in browser Address line.

Should I also delete the Cache --- please give direction.

Please read my other observation in my replied to Wesley Vogel.

Hope the 3 of us can tackle this problem. I'll post back every finding.

Thanks,
Rino

Also: Workaround:

Navigate to the Temporary Internet Files, and drag the icons to the desktop
and rename them to whatever name you like.

Create a folder called Icon Selection. Move all of the renamed favicons to
this folder placed in the root directory of C. Right click on the Icon,
select Browse and navigate to your Icon Selection folder. Choose the
renamed favicon and click ok. These icons will be permanent.

When you right click on an icon, select browse and navigate to the Icon
Selection folder. Choose the renamed favicon you want and click ok. Your
customized icons will be permanent.

Took me a little bit to find it, Tom. http://favicon.com/ No www!

[[Why can't I see my favicon in the address/location bar?
In Internet Explorer, click the icon in the address bar. Hold down the
button and move the icon a tiny bit to the right and let go. Try this two or
three times. Usually that is all you need to do! ]]
from....
http://favicon.com/ie.html

By golly, that works.

Visit http://home.ingdirect.com/ in Internet Explorer, left click the ugly
IE "e" icon and move it a little bit to the right and voila, the orange ball
icon appears.

You can learn something new every single day. :-)

It also worked @ http://favicon.com/ie.html I couldn't see the "F" favicon
until I moved the ugly IE "e" icon around a little.

Stays visible until you empty out your Temporary Internet Files again.
