Ok, I'll do my best to explain the problem in the order that it took place.

1. I was not able to change the page setup in Microsoft Word; I wanted to
change the page layout from portrait to landscape and every time that I tried
I got the following error: “increasing right margin causes last column to
become too narrow in some sections having unevenly spaced columns.†After
clicking “ok†on this error nothing happened.
I wasn’t sure why this was happening so I ran "detect and repair". After
reading what this option does it made sense that this might help. After
running this, it then proceeded to install all of my Microsoft office
programs (i.e. Outlook, Word, etc...).
2. When I opened up Outlook I had lost all off my information (i.e.
contacts, old e-mails, etc...) and even my account settings. I need these
e-mails and contacts BADLY!
So my question is, is there any way that I can recover these files?
Or are they lost?

Thanks,
Jordan.

Detect and Repair never loses data. It may have created a new Outlook
profile with a new Outlook Data File.
Your old data file will still be on your hard drive with a PST extension.
Just set Outlook to use it.

Where can I find that file?

Depends on your version and OS, which you did not mention.
Just search for *.pst, and make sure you include hidden files in that
search.

I did the search but don't know anything about the system, we are using
windows XP. But the files that are listed under that search were modified on
11/15/04. I don't know what to do. There isn't really anyone out where I live
to have come look at it.

Thank you so much for all your help Russ Valentine, I figured it out based
off of another post you replied to. Thanks!
