Lost everything in My Network Places

After rebooting recently all of the files that I was sharing on one of my
computers are missing. When I check my drive the files are set to share but
they are not found by my other computer or show up on the computer they are
on. The network has worked fine for quite awhile, and I have never had a
problem like this. I have tried contacting the company the built the
computer but they don't know anything about networks.

I really need these as the computers are used at work.

How well do you know or understanding networking or how to
configure or set up networking for use with static IP's? If
not, then find an expert. IOW, if you are possibly using a
dynamic IP, why did you reboot?

You need to check that the Share feature of the files is still there.
Sometimes the share feature is removed due to bugs in windows or
gremlin! Windows (XP) is not as robust as we are led to believe.
People are losing settings for no apparent reasons even on machines that
are not online!

I'm sorry but I don't understand a thing you said. I had no problem setting
up the network and it worked fine for a couple years. I don't know why my
employee rebooted but she did (we have done this many times without any
problems). On my office computer I see all of the other shared files on a
different computer but none from the computer at my counter.

Maybe someone would have an idea why the files show that they are being
shared but they don't show up in My Network Places.

Now that your seemingly panic has subsided, let's get some hard
information, now that I know how much you know. Open Network and
Dial-up Connections and then the Local Area Connection. Under its
properties, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), assuming that
this is how the LAN operates. Check the TCP/IP properties. Does
anything look out of place in IP Address, Default Gateway, etc.?
How about the subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0? If not this setting, try
it. Compare these settings to others on your network. Generally, the
only difference between this computer and others on the same network
would be the IP address. If needed, straighten things out. You've set
the network before and you can do it again. Piece of cake.
