lost document

I accidentally saved a useless document in the name of another important document and I lost 90 pages of work. is there any way to retrieve it??
 
Bearing bad news ... sorry. Unless you have a recent backup your document is
gone.

Probably not. Do you have a backup copy? (Of course not -- if you did, you
wouldn't be here...)
 
Probably not. Click the open button and to the left hand-side click on History. It might still be there.. or in My Recent Documents in the start menu.. other than that, I don't know what to tell you
 
The MRU lists just include a pointer to the file path; they will bring up
the current version of the doc.

lost un-saved word 2000 document after retreiving back from "restore" then lost again by deleting by error. Is there any way to retrieve document

Only by using file recovery software - provided you have not already
overwritten the disc space that the file occupied. Deleting a file only
marks the file space as reusable. It doesn't wipe the data.
