My WinXP home suddenly became unstable and I was forced to try to repair it using the installation CD. Part way through the repair i got an error message "UNREGMP2.EXE Entry point not found". I could not clear this error and eventually had to resort to re-installing XP. With the new copy of XP I could see my old Docs & Settings file but when i tried to open it I got "access denied".
I am signed on as an administrator in the new version of XP but I cannot get into the Docs & Settings that was set up by the original version of XP.
I need to get into these files as I beleive they contain not only letters etc but also my original email and Outlook address book.
Can anyone please advise?
Many thanks

This article describes how to take ownership of a file or folder
to which you have been denied access:

Many thanks, great help. I was able to get into my lost docs but still could not find my Outlook - not Outlook Express - address book and emails. I thought they were stored in Docs & Settings. Any ideas where I can find them?

Greetings,

Your outlook e-mail/addresses are stored in a file called

outlook.pst

Do a search for that file name (INCLUDE system folders), then carefully
check the size and date of any results (you may get the new empty one as
well as the old full one.)

Once you have found the file that contains your old e-mails (and addresses)
you can use Outlook IMPORT Messages feature...

Many Thanks Quentin,
I will give it a try. The files that I found do seem to be complete - thankfully!
