Have you checked to make sure you don't have any filters on your view?

Yes, but I checked it again. Filter is marked as off in both calendar and
contacts on the "current view option"

Ed

Yes, and I checked them again, the both, contacts and calendar, show off.

You should try running the Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE) against your
PST file.

I had run that before I posted to this forum. Incidently I just use outlook
as a pim, calendar and contacts, I use outlook express for mail.

Well...I don't know what else to tell you. If you've run SCANPST and
carefully checked the folders for filters then it sounds like they are
truly empty. :(

Do you have a backup you can restore from?

Had a "backup" in a seperate forlder. I think I just have to "open" it, but
when I do nothing happens.

I got it fixed BUT I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT!!!

There was a file, outlook1.pst, that was ALSO getting updated, and was
smaller than the outlook.pst file. I replaced BOTH of them with the copy I
had. When I then opened outlook it complained about some things, BUT IT DID
HAVE MY OLD CALENDAR AND CONTACTS.

It is still updating BOTH files when I make any changes, but I can live
with that.

By overwriting one PST with an identically named one you have corrupted your
mail profile. Instead of the approach you took, you should have simply
changed your delivery location to the PST you wanted to use and then used
right-click>Close for the PST(s) you didn't want.

You can cure the duplicate problem by creating a new mail profile with
Control Panel's Mail applet and pointing it at the PST you wish to use.
