Lost Contacts List - Panic

I recently moved the location of my personal folders by following the
directions in 'OL2002: How to Move Your Personal Folders" (originally
Q291636).

I wanted the *.PST file where it was easier to backup as part of a
general backup I do each day.

All seemed to go well. But now I have no 'Contacts'.

What have I done wrong - I thought that the Contacts folder was
included in the *.PST file.

Can someone help me out here?

Indeed. Contacts are in your PST along with all your other data. If you
followed these instructions your Contacts would remain intact.
You have no Contacts where?
Contacts Folder?
Address Book?

I have no contacts in either my Address Book nor my Contact Folder.

I can go back several months to my old OE Address Book, but there have
been a lot of entries since then. Besides which I printed out the
instructiosns and followed them to the letter.

I still have a copy of the PST (600meg) file saved in it's old
location. But I've tried accessing that, by importing it, but I still
have no Contacts list.

I hope that is an adequate description of my situation and that
someone can explain how to get my head above water again.

Right clicked on the file and clicked "Open". Took a few minutes, but
finally it appeared as an attachment to a new e-mail message.

Checked that .PST is associated with Outlook. It seems that it is.

That is not the way to open a PST file. Open it in Outlook: File > Open >
Outlook Data File...

I'm afraid I would have no way to retrace the steps you used to lose your
Contacts. Only you can do that.
Have you checked to make sure they didn't moved to another folder, such as
Deleted Items?
Have you tried using the Inbox Repair Tool to repair the PST?

It seems a bit of a hopeless task. I will try repairing the file, but
I think the bird may have flown.

Thanks for your support. Greatly valued! As a newcomer to Outlook, I
can see that I have a lot to learn and should not burn any bridges
behind me.
