Lost Computer Administrative Rights XP Home

[Lost Without Admin Rights]

All user accounts with administrative rights have been
lost. The only user account is a limited rights user
account. Thus, the operating system disallows restore,
loading programs, etc. Dell says wipe out the hard drive
and reload from scratch. Any other ideas?

Hi,

what you can try is when you get to "Welcome Screen" click ALT+CTRL+DEL
twice. You should get a new window where you can enter your Username and
Password...

Greetings --

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account. By design, the only
way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot
into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the
Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.
