I was searching for the .pst file. When I opened the Outlook.pst I foun
it to be empty. Now whenever I open outlook it comes up with the empt
one and all profiles gone aswell. The irony, as I was going to back i
up. I use windows ME with outlook 2000

Try running the Inbox Repair Tool against your .PST file to see if it finds
any errors. Search your drive for a file called scanpst.exe and run it.
(BTW, you did open the .PST file from within Outlook, and not from Windows,
right?)

Welll....maybe, maybe not. .PST files can only be opened properly from
within Outlook (using File | Open). Opening them in Windows has been known
to cause data loss under certain circumstances. I'd have to search the
Microsoft Knowledge Base to see if there are any specific articles on
this -- I don't remember what the "certain circumstances" are.

Have you tried running the Inbox Repair Tool against the .PST file as I
suggested in my last reply?

I ran it against the file, but it seems that it didn't find any errors
When I opened it from within outlook it still wasn't there

Know of any way to recover even some of the information? I haven't saved
or changed anything else on the computer in hopes that I don't write
over any of it.

First of all, are you positive that the file that opens when you open
Outlook is the one where all your data used to reside? Are you sure there
aren't any other .PST files lurking on your hard drive somewhere?

If you're sure this is the correct file, you may have some luck running
scanpst.exe multiple times against the file...it may fix the problem after a
while. Look at the following page for more possible solutions:

One last thing (off topic, but relevant). If you could copy and paste the
relevant parts of the previous posts in the thread when you reply, that
would be great. I understand that the OutlookForum interface is different
than the usual "Usenet" newsgroup format, and that quoting is not automatic,
so if you could just cut and paste, that would help many of us follow the
thread (especially those of us who use an "unread messages" view, so we
don't see previous replies). Thanks :-)
