lost all inbox emails and cannot receive..urgent! outlook express

i opened outlook express and was receiving about 30 emails...on 27 out of 30,
it took a long time to receive (i assumed it was a large file), then it
locked so I did the ctrl + alt + del, and end task. then when i restarted it,
it took about 5mins to load up and i had lost all my inbox and can no longer
receive emails. please help!
