Lost all automatic name completion lists in email-how to restore

My emails suddenly stopped giving the lists of addresses when I type the
first initial of an email address. No more lists of all the former email
addresses when I type the first letter. I depend on this everyday and don't
know what I did to make it stop. How do I restore this??
