lost adrive

I have lost the a floppy drive in my computer. I went to the registry to
remove the upper and lower filters as per microsoft but only found one of
them. Remove and restarted and still no floppy drive. I changed bios to
boot from floppy and it went to the floppy drive. windows just does not see
the drive.

Have you looked at Device Manager yet? Is it detected there? How about the
floppy drive controller?

In addition to Rick's great advice.....

Go to Start/Run/services.msc

In the right pane find Shell Hardware Detection and set it to Automatic.
