Lost Admin Password

I recently installed the Windows XP Service Pack 2. When
I restarted the computer it asks for the admin password
which I have forgotten. Is there anyway to retrieve or
reset the password word without purchasing some expensive
program?

Any assistance would be helpful. The last thing that I
want to do is restore.

Have you tried to log on with the original Administrator user:

If that doesn't work out, you might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:
