Problem 1: Due to downloads/programs my kids put on our computer, I was getting constant popups (even when not on line) and XP would often not boot or would lock up saying there were missing .DLLs or other files. I decided to reload Windows, which is what I used to do with Win95. However, now I can't get into our old accounts. They show up on Windows Explorer and at the DOS prompt but I cannot access them. Any ideas
Problem 2: Another thing I had to do on my old computer about every three months was wipe the drive and start over. After the first couple times, I got wise and made a DOS startup disk so I didn't have to mess with writing autoexec and config files and loading mscdex in the right place and....... A coworker told me that with Win XP, all you have to do is format the drive, change the CMOS to boot from the cd drive, put in the XP disk and reboot. Sounds too easy.
