Lost access to contents on C drive

After clearing several viruses I no longer have ALL PROGRAMS listed. I
reinstalled XP Pro which didn't bring it back. I had been right clicking on
the C drive icon on the desktop and clicking OPEN to view all programs but now
that doesn't work either. To view the contents of C drive I have to choose
Quickfind.
The reinstall automatically brought up and installed all the necessary patches
which were
deleted at the reinstall. All programs are working but I miss the quick
access to the contents of the drive.

Also after reinstalling XP Pro my system is unbelievably slow. From the
Windows splash screen to the desktop takes almost 2 minutes while before the
virus problem it took only a few seconds.

Hi Ray,

I don't know how to fix things exactly as they worked for you before,
but you can easily make shortcuts to whatever drives you want.

Right click on your desktop and create a new shortcut. Name it your
drive letter that you want to open.

In the properties line, type or paste C:\WINNT\explorer.exe /e,C:

This will make a shortcut to your C drive. If you want shortcuts to your
other drives just change the C to another letter and you'll be good to go.

I'm not running XP, so your explorer.exe is probably in a folder other
than C:\WINNT, so you'll need to change that too.
