All the files in My Documents have gone.

I can find short cuts for the files but they do not link to anything.

In properites the number of files shows them but they can not be viewed.

I have tried view hidden files and system restore but they have not helped.

Can anybody help?

Never thought it would happen to you, eh? There's a lesson learned the hard
way.

Have you tried to do a Search? Can you remember the name of one of the
documents? Start > Search > All Files and Folders

Good luck

Check your Recycle Bin first.

Search your hard drive for a specific docment that you know the exact
name (or part of the exact name) of.

If that does not find them then download Restoration (free) and let it
scan your hard drive for traces of the files.
http://www.aumha.org/free.htm and click on the Restoration link in the
left side column.

Good luck

Three words that will save any computer user a lot of frustration:

1. Backup
2. Backup
3. Backup

Get the point?

If you are able to recover your files, you need to do number 1, 2 and 3.
