Loss of data

We have a recurring issue with Outlook Data loss. We use IBM THinkPad,
Windows XP, Outlook 2003. .pst is ~5GB, with ~5,000 contacts.

Frequently, the outlook file will be opened, and data will be missing from
an entire field - such as home address, or business phone number.

We back up the .pst each night, so luckily we can rebuild it. But, this is
happening often enough - we just want it to STOP!

Does anyone know why Outlook may be showing signs of instability? We
shouldn't need to worry about opening our data file & missing information out
of 5,000 contacts.

Thanks!

The attorney has his .pst resident on his laptop. We use Sure Sync to back
up his drive to a network drive twice a week. But, his .pst is most
definitely on his laptop.

Actually, I need to amend my last post - it is on a networked drive. He is
only on the network twice a week when that drive - his c: drive is mapped to
my Desktop d: drive. So, his .pst would be on a networked drive.
Sorry for the confusion.
