Loss in disk space after first time format

Hi,
I have a 5 in 1 mp3 player. It was 256 MB when I bought it new. In the
product care it was given "Not to format the disk", but due to errors
on the disk I had to format it .After formating it is reduced to 118
MB. Can anybody help me to convert the disk again to 256MB?

Are you using NTFS or FAT-32 for the file system? NTFS takes a lot of
space for itself, so you should be using FAT-32 or FAT-16.
