My computer has slowed down considerably, and though I
have tried the ordinary fixes- defrag, etc. I am still
having probs. Dell 4550 2Gg, 512Mg- so it should have
the stuff and move right along. Also, at times there
seems to be some kind of memory leakage, so that the
computer treads water with 100% use of cpu. Is there
some way to test for program conflicts other that
restoring to some earlier date? Thanks

What programs are running at 100%? Most of the time this signals a virus of
some type.

Look at the Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL) and take a look at the processes
that are running. Look for items that don't look like they should be there
and shut them down, one by one. Also, look in your Add/Remove Programs and
see if there is any software there that shouldn't be.

If you are accustomed to downloading and installing shareware/freeware, this
could explain it as many of these programs install spyware/viruses/etc.
