losing control

popup madness. i've scanned the computer with mcafee and
can't find adware or anything like that. but it's there
and waiting to open as soon as i get a connection.
also... sometimes i seem to lose control. all of the
sudden the font size is changing, or a page closes, odd
things... the activity light on my modem is always lit.
there's a searchbar on my desktop that i can't get rid
of. it appears on boot. also on boot, a window opens but
only very briefly it's purityscan or pgate or something
like that. it's realy too fast to see. i think that it is
muddling things up. also on boot i get two dialog boxes
that tell me image.dll could not be found. this all
seemed to happen overnight. one day fine... the next a
nightmare. that's it i think. any help is greatly
appreciated.

You need to download and install Ad-aware, Pest Patrol, Spybot Search and
Destroy and HiJack This! Your machine is obviously infected with malware.
The Google Tool Bar does a good job of blocking popups. All these
applications are free.
