Losing Admin Permissions

I am logged in as an administrator. Out of the blue I
lose permission to edit websites that I have designed in
Frontpage as well as permission to download my virus
definition files from Command Software. This has happened
3 times in 2 months. (this time I am the only ADMIN user
on this machine)I have to set up a second admin account
just to be able to do my work. I have found no one that
can tell me why this is happening.

It is truly affecting my ability to make a living. I
would appreciate any help. Operating system & machine is:
(XP Pro, Toshiba Satellite A-25 s208)

OK.
So you have an XP Pro install.

When access with your existing account shows these
failures, have you tried simply shutting down and then
attempt the access with the same account but immediately
after a fresh reboot ??

Is the IIS where the FP websites exist, to which you are
having the authentication problem, on this machine ?
Or are these only stored as local file copies on your XP?
What is the version of the FrontPage server extensions
that are used on the webs if these are in IIS? And, what
is the version of FrontPage used for editing ?

Finally, when you "restore" access to the FP webs all
that you need to do is to define a new admin account ?
No FP server extensions admin settings changed to do
this ?

Thanks Roger for your reply.

The only constant each time that this happens is that I
cannot get the virus update files which are downloaded
when I click the "Command Software" icon and I lose
permissions for my website. it actually doesn't say
access denied with FP it simply will not offer a
username/password box. It takes me directly into a read
only page. As for the virus file update it tells me they
cannot be located OR that my password/username is
incorrect.

What I should clarify is that nothing has changed any of
the times that I lose my permissions in regard to the
websites. When I create a new Admin account and switch
users I can go to that account and have all priviledges
for the same sites as well as having the ability to
download my Virus definition files. Each time I do this
everythinng is normal for a month or so and it happens
again.

Not sure if any of that helps...I've never been more
frustrated.
