Installed (from CD) SP2 yesterday. Installation was uneventful. No
compatability problems (so far!)

But, booting is now strangely extended by at least 90 seconds or more.

More precisely, from power on to the appearance of the desktop seems
to be as before. BUT, it appears to hang up at that stage and
agonizingly begins to display each icon, one at a time, which takes a
very long time.

During this time the splash screen for my Calendar appears and just
hangs there until all these icons, one by one, refresh and display
properly.

Using StartUp Instpector I can see no changes at all in what is loaded
at startup.

Any suggestions about what I can do to accelerate the boot time would
be appreciated.

Thanks

Jentle Jiant.

I ntoiced that too, but it appears to get better as time goes by. If
you're not already, I'd advise you to regularly shutdown, as opposed
to standby, your system so it does a "full boot" at least once a day
and see if that helps.

You may have an actual issue that needs repair, and my suggestion is
based solely on my own anecdotal evidence, but it can't hurt to give
it a try.
