Is there a way to get excel to lookup an outlook contacts name by the
value that is in a certain column? My company has a unique identifier
for each person, and if we type that number into the contact search
box, their name will come up. I am looking for a quick way of turning
meaningless numbers (alias's) into names. Any ideas ?

thanks!

Sorry, I didn't make it clear what I was asking.

I want something to directly look into outlook. I do not have a list of
names and ID numbers, they are stored on the server. (there are literally
hundreds of thousands of names). I want it to query directly into outlook.

The only way I have had success is by posting these numbers into an email,
copying the resulting names back into excel and transposing them so they line
up in vertically, rather than horizontally.

Hope this makes it a little more clear. (I use vlookup all the time, in
fact, thats what i'm using now after I go through and manually get the names).

thanks!

If you don't get an answer here, you may want to post in .programming.

(I can't help, sorry.)
