Hi. I need to reformat some computers on our network, and for access reasons
they must run on XP SP1. Does anyone know if there's a way I can get my hands
on a full version of this? I've checked with my PC manufacturer with no
success, and I'm not finding it in the MS downloads.

You can only download the service packs, not entire copies of products
(unless you're an MSDN subscriber).

You stated that you checked with your PC manufacturer.

I am then assuming that you have an OEM version installed on your computer.

I am also assuming that your computers came with SP2.

Normally all you would need to do is make a copy of anyone's OEM XP Pro SP1
CD and use the XP numbers affixed to each computer. After installation, if
XP did not assign drivers to certain hardware, then you would have to
manually install them.

But

This could be tricky if you have a major brand like DELL, IBM and so on.

It is because Microsoft turned these numbers off because of piracy concerns.

If this is the case, then the only work around would be to still make of
copy of someone's OEM XP Pro SP1 CD, and then (here's the bummer) purchase
another OEM copy of XP Pro SP2 (not from a major) for each system and use
the new numbers to activate.

Hope this helps
