Sometimes opening and saving in a different version of excel can help (sometimes
not).
If it is a corrupted workbook, you may want to try openoffice. Lots of people
have said that it's recovered workbooks that excel couldn't.
If the file is really important, there are commercial recovery services. I've
never used it, but you might want to check into: http://www.officerecovery.com
The free ways can be frustrating so keep that in mind if you try
them. The commercial software is usually reliable, but be sure to try
the demos before purchasing. You may want to try several demos to see
which one works the best.
