do you have a cd with motherboard and video drivers on it? or are you not
using the restore cd that came with the laptop ...if so you will need to go
to manufacturers websites to find the proper drivers for your hardware

Hi, David.

You should have the file right there - unless the maker of your laptop
deleted in the OEM version of WinXP that came preinstalled on your computer.
On my home-built machine, there is a new version (apparently) included in
SP2 (41,088 bytes, dated 8/3/04).

Run the System File Checker by typing at the Run prompt: sfc /scannow

SFC will compare each WinXP operating system file with the "known good" copy
held in your on-disk cache and replace any missing or damaged ones. Have
your WinXP CD-ROM handy; SFC probably will need to see this.
