Just like I said already. Its amazing how a regular internet user
has this info before a microsoft exec!

?

It's the way of the world (especially now) for people to (at least believe)
know things quickly. I know it is still strange for some to think they can
see live what is going on thousands of miles over oceans from them.. But
the ability has been around a while now.

The article you pointed to, however - does not really show any great
insight, any "I knew for sure before anyone else" point of facts. It shows
that someone (or some group) guessed (and it doesn't take a genius to do
that) that Windows Vista would not be released "on time" and probably not
until 2007.

*gasp* No! Really?

Come on. Seriously. When the Beta 2 release was slated for February (I
believe - it's been so long that I cannot remember) and it never made that
time frame.. Or March.. Or April.. You think that was a hint? And that
combined with all the other issues surrounding Vista as well as current
OSes - 2+2 is still equal to 4.

What I am saying is that this was no shocker. It was that way with past
releases (and not just from Microsoft) and iot will be that way with future
releases (and not just from Microsoft.) Heck - I have been beta testing one
piece of software for a while now and they keep edging their way to the
first full release.. They made it to .9 and I thought: "Woohoo!" - but then
they made 0.91! They then added the third digit! 0.960 is where I believe
they are now.

People instinctively do not like to be criticized - especially for stupid
mistakes. So they may delay things over and over for various reasons - just
tso they can double/triple check things. The trouble is - nothing is
perfect. Someday you have to let the kids grow up and let them out of the
house.

As I said - but in many more words..

It's called "educated guessing".
You knew nothing then "for sure" and you know nothing now "for sure".

Come up with the exact lottery numbers for every drawing in the world on a
given future date even 24 hours before it happens (or even one lottery
drawing) and color me impressed; but don't say that a software product will
not be released on time or even guess a year that it will be released in and
then expect everyone to be in awe when you *might* end up correct. *grin*
Hell - it might be 2008. Could be a tiered release and the poor saps who
get the lower end Vistas get theirs before December and the higher end stuff
comes around August next year.

Heck - you give me an "exact date" from "your sources" that indicated things
to you earlier and maybe I might possibly say, "Hmmm.. Interesting. Not a
bad guess." when it comes close.

Maybe I'll stop by your mystics shop on Saturday and maybe I won't.
Either way - give Jerry G. my fondest hello's again.

Is that the same exec I saw in a video clip someone posted recently -
dancing, ranting, leaping and shouting on a stage in front of a crowd?
If the execs in Microsoft have behavioural problems, is it any wonder that
their products do as well? :-)

My guess shiney lights do the job quite well.

In point of fact, you lost the argument as soon as you made this post.

What is it that makes people resort to name-calling and character
assassination rather than simply addressing the issue.

I see it up and downthread in all the WGA arguments--on both sides--and
not only is it annoying, it's also the sort of thing that makes me put
my hand over my face, because I'm so embarrassed on behalf of the person
who posted it.

But there's a noticeable correlation between such posts and bad grammar,
bad spelling and overall lack of logic, so I guess I shouldn't be
surprised.

As to the topic itself, my preference is that Microsoft release the
software when it's ready, not before.
