Hi,
I've got XP home SP1 on a Sony Vaio Z1 Notebook.
Even now, after reinstalling Win the following problem
remains:
I use Standyby a lot.
When I resume after 20 min, everything is fine (takes app. 5
sec.)

_But when I resume after some hours in standby, it takes app.
30 sec.!_
Harddrive spins up right away, and has some short "activities"
before - at last - the keyboard-indicator-LEDs flash once and
the system comes back.

Already tried/checked:
- Bootvis (is no help because it does not allow Standby time >
1000 sec.)
- Swapfile is only on system Disk

??What happens while the system is in Standby??
curious - Heiko

Heiko,

I was interested to read your post as I too am
experiencing trouble with a Sony Vaio and standby mode
but also hibernate mode. You can see my post near
midnight on 5/31. "Long delay at bootup - ACPI issue?"
There obviously is some hardware compatability issue with
Vaios. I have posted multiple messages here without any
responses. The sad thing is that I have emailed Sony 3
times over the past two weeks and they have never
responded. I think that's their unprofessional way of
saying that they don't know the answer. Although your
symptoms are a bit different and much shorter, I suspect
that the cause is similiar if not the same. I will get
to the bottom of this and when I do, I will post a
response on my May 31 post so you may want to check back
periodically. If you beat me to it, you might do the
same.

Good Luck
