long document/manual

I have a policy and procedure book that is saved as 1 document. I need help
separting the file into the actual sections. This would allow me to edit
parts of it better. Any help please.....
 
If the document is divided into sections by section breaks, see that macros

Having a document that is a single entity divided into several documents
creates other problems - not least of which could be page numbering and
indexing.
