Long Delay in IE starting up

I have IE 6.1 and have not had any problems until
recently. When i first open IE it takes 3 or 4 minutes
to "detect Proxy settings" and open up to the home page
(or any page). Once this finally happens, there is no
problem, it opens any location quickly, just like before.
This does NOT happen when i open the Netscape browser,
everything opens up fairly quickly with that browser. It
is not a problem with the homepage location, i changed
that and there still was the same problem.

I am on a home network, and have the settings set
to "automatic detection of proxy server". This has worked
well in the past (with no long delay), and works ok now,
if i am willing to wait....

proxy servers can do that, see if an alternate proxy server is available.
