Logs in then logs out

I installed XP about 3 weeks ago, now when I try to login I click on my username and it gives the log in sound and says Loading Personal Settings and then it says Logging off and makes the logging off sound, it goes back to the login screen.. I can't figure it out.. Please help

I think I have exactly the same problem as you and whilst
I cant help directly I am struggling to see how i can
resolve it. When I start Windows XP home edition, windows
loads to the "Welcome" screen and then progresses to the
desktop view. After approx 1 second Windows logs me out
(not shuts down - just logs me out). If I then click on my
User to log back in again the same happens.

I have tried "Safe Boot" aswell as "Restore last known..."
I havent knowingly deleted any file key file recently
although a friend asked whether I had removed any *.tmp
files? Is this the same as yourself?
