Logon problems

Environment: Active Directory domain

My laptop successfully receives an IP address from DHCP and gets to the
logon screen. However, the laptop cannot be pinged and the logon process
never completes. The Windows XP firewall is not on, but since the laptop
can't be pinged or logon, it is almost like Windows is filtering traffic.

The only thing that changed between yesterday (when it worked fine) and
today is that late yesterday I removed Office 2003 (except Access) and
installed Office 2007. So I have both Access 2003 and 2007. I'm sure this
can't be the problem, but thought I'd mention it.

Any ideas?

To clarify, I cant get past the CTRL+ALT+DEL prompt but the desktop never
builds. This holds try for both domain accounts AND local accounts. Also,
when booting to safe mode with networking and logging on with a local
account, the same thing happens.

Can you ping other computers?
