After joining the computer to the domain, I reboot and
try to logon and I get this message, The system cannot
log you on now because the domain "DOMAINNAME" is not
available. What is the reason for this error? Can
someone please help me.

How 'bout some details. Windows 98 or XP? Wireless or
wired?

Most lilely the problem is that your password expired on
the domain server. You'll need to go to the server,
access the password list for your system's permissions
and either reset the password or click on "never expires."
