I posted this message a couple days ago:
"I think this is a setting problem. Used to be when i logged off the
internet, and came down to the desktop, a little box always came up and asked
me did i really want to disconnect or some such thing. That box stopped
coming up, so now I don't know if I'm logged off or not. Please tell
me how to make that box come up again when i log off. thank you very much.
gg"
PLEASE advise me. gg

All Network Connections can display an icon in the System Tray (By
the Clock). The icon has two "Little" computer monitors that blink as
data (In/Out) happens. If you hover your mouse pointer over it, status
information is displayed ( Speed, Connection Status). Instead of the
confirmation box, I'd use the Connectiod status. Either way you want
to work, the settings are in the "Network Connections" in Control
Panel (Classic View). Open the applet and then Right Click the entries
and left click Properties. To have the connectoid status icon, check
the box that says "Show Icon in Notification area when connected"
You neglected to mention the method of connection (Dial-Up, DSL
or Cable), but the instructions should work for all types.

Dear R,
I am on dialup. I do not want the icon in my tray. You say there is a
disconnect box that will come up for me in the middle of the desktop, which
is what I'm used to and what I want. Could you tell me how to make that
work? Thank you. gg

Just offering a suggestion, but I understand. In that same Connectoid
in Network Connections will be the box for Confirmation. The name
will probably reflect your ISP's name. I can't remember just exactly
the location within properties you'll find it - but it's in there. Once you
get the Connection properties open, you should see several Tabs. I
would look in either "Options" or "Advanced".
