After installing a DVD RW on XP Pro system, the logical D: drive appears to have dropped all content! In the disk management, the D: drive shows as offline and 100% free space

I've tried the system restore point, with no luck.

Has anyone seen this before? I am sitting behind firewall, and diligently use Norton AV and Internet Security, Spybot and auto update Windows. Also ran through the current sasser detection with clean slate

Did you remove the DVD RW drive to see what would happen?

I restored the PC back to all of the original parts/config. Had not installed any software, drivers, etc. Only the DVD.
